4steps to free yourself from negative thoughts: How can we free ourselves from negative thoughts? Those
thoughts that prick in our heads and torture us ... Learn to have the freedom
to think or not!
Who hasn't had many thoughts in their head that they
couldn't get rid of? We propose 4 steps to learn to choose your thoughts and
have the freedom to control the thoughts that come to you, to finally savor the
inner peace.
We know that thoughts are important, they are what create
our reality. But our thoughts are like our emotions, they come to us without informing
us how to control them and they can quickly take over us, and go so far as to
overcome us, to control us. So our thoughts take over us, they can do us good
or bad, and that's nothing.
If we do not
choose the thoughts that come to us, we choose what to do with those thoughts.
That is, how we respond to them or not.
4
steps to free yourself from negative thoughts:
To overcome your negative thoughts, you will need two
things: self-awareness and the willingness to love yourself. Once you're armed
with these two tools, take a look below to learn about how to break free from
the cycle of negative thinking.
1.
Become aware of the thoughts that affect you
Negative thoughts are difficult to understand as they
tend to be part of us. These thoughts build our belief system and remain
unchanged even when they appear daily.
Every change begins with consciousness. Whatever you
believe in yourself, take time to pay attention to your own dialogue. What do
you say to yourself regularly? How you feel? Is this true?
When these thoughts come to your attention, you begin to
notice how often you say these things to yourself. Once you have cultivated
awareness around these thoughts, you can begin to develop the change you want.
2.
Learn to accept them on the go
Many people believe that you must completely eliminate
negative thoughts from your life to be happy. Not only is it not possible, but
it is also not true. You will continue to have negative thoughts. It is what
you decide to do with those thoughts that counts.
The next time a negative thought occurs to me, treat it
like a passing car. Recognize it and let it pass. Don't try to greet the
driver. Don't keep thinking about it after it's happened. Let it go.
Empowering your
thoughts gives them control over you. You can't stop a negative thought from
entering your mind, but you still have the power to let it go!
3.
Challenge your negative thoughts
Our own beliefs play in a loop, telling us certain things
over and over again. While it is important to get carried away as mentioned
above, it is also important to get to the root of these problems and determine
where they are coming from. Let's say you tell yourself that you're stupid all
day. If you notice this pattern, ask yourself: does it have a basis in reality?
Am I really stupid or do I tell myself unnecessarily? Is there any evidence to
support this?
Challenging your negative thoughts will help you realize
that they are highly exaggerated and false. It gives you an opportunity to turn
those negative thoughts into positive ones.
4.
Replace these thoughts with more realistic alternatives
Anything that is broken has to be replaced. The broken
recording that plays in a loop can easily be changed into a song that can
actually be sung. Whenever a negative thought arises, take the time to stop and
think of something positive to put it in its place. If you are thinking,
"I can't do this," try instead to tell yourself that you are more
than capable. Keep in mind, however, that you need to tell yourself the things
you really believe in. If you start saying things to yourself that don't
resonate with you and find yourself in a situation that proves your belief to
be false, you risk doing yourself more harm than good!
Changing your
way of thinking is a rigorous but rewarding process that will change your
outlook on life.
If you find yourself struggling with negative thoughts,
learn more about where they come from and how to stop them forever. It depends
on you.
If despite all your attempts, negative thoughts continue
to invade you, it is best to have an appointment with a mental health
professional. A psychologist to help you determine the root of your negativity,
to transform it into a good and positive quality of thoughts.
